Natural Remedies for Menopause-Related Symptoms How to Get Rid of Hot Flashes

Hot flashes are among the most bothersome and stressful symptoms associated to peri-menopause and menopause-related problems. Although they aren’t normally dangerous, they can severely disrupt your life, and are often accompanied by other problems, such as migraines, depression, vaginal dryness, insomnia and low sex drive.

Understanding Hot Flashes

Before trying to fight against symptoms like hot flashes, it’s important to ask yourself, what are the symptoms of menopause and why do they actually appear? Sources like the official website of Dr. Weil can give you a great deal of insight on these matters and provide you with some effective methods to cope with them.

Hot flashes typically start occurring when estrogen levels begin to diminish, and you are experiencing irregular periods. Although scientists and medical experts still don’t fully understand the process, it is believed that the hot flashes, chills, warmth in the face and other sensations related to temperature changes have to do with the reaction of the hypothalamus to reduced estrogen. This area of the brain deals with regulating temperature, and the fact that it’s out of balance may lead to temperature fluctuations and sex hormone imbalances in the body.

Remedies to Counteract the Problem

The good news there are dozens of natural remedies you can try when dealing with hot flashes. As pointed out by the Global Healing Center, these methods can decrease or sometimes even eliminate hot flashes entirely.

One of the most effective remedies is to drink organic sage tea every day. This tea can easily be found online or at your local drug store, and it’s an excellent remedy for hot flashes, headaches and digestive issues.

Another method involves increased Vitamin E intake. The antioxidants associated with vitamin E can effectively reduce menopause-induced symptoms, and are especially helpful in the case of hot flashes.

Finally, flaxseed oil is known to contain lignans that are similar to estrogen, and may even cause estrogen levels to stabilize in some women. By tackling the issue at its core, it can dramatically reduce hot flashes and many other troubling menopause-related symptoms and complications.
