Do You Know What Choices You Have For Menopause Relief Treatments?

Keeping Track of the Main Peri-menopause and Pre Menopause Symptoms of Consequence

Menopause relief treatments represent a very important aspect to be kept in mind when talking about menopause. As we all know, there is a time in every woman’s life when her body suffers an irreversible change: menopause. Unfortunately, menopause brings along a series of uncomfortable “friends”, like hot flashes, mood swings, urinary problems or inability to sleep. Usually, menopause occurs between the ages 40 and 60 and it marks the end of the woman’s menstrual flow. From clinical point of view, there are three stages of the menopause process:

  1. Perimenopause – the time covering the years before and after the woman’s last period. It starts when the period ceases to be regular and lasts until it stops completely. The symptoms of perimenopause can be seen even as early as 35 years depending on each woman and the most common of them is represented by the hot flashes.
  2. Premenopause – marks the years right before the last period.
  3. Postmenopause – starts at the moment when at least 12 months have passed since the last period. Although, medically speaking, the possibility to bear a pregnancy becomes zero, the reproductive hormones remain for a little longer in the woman’s body.

There is no need to stress the psychological impact that such change has on a woman’s life. Sadly, the emotional state is not the only aspect to be fought with because, as mentioned before, there are various effects at a physical level. For example, in lots of cases, women suffer from migraines, back and muscle pains, itching, osteoporosis, bleeding and urinary incontinence, hence the need for menopause relief treatments. At the moment, there are two main options to help women: Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) and natural/alternative treatments. The first option is known to reduce the risk of osteoporotic fracture, hot flashes and sleeping problems. However, as the risks of Menopausal Hormone Therapy are not very low, many women prefer natural remedies to help them go through this stage.

Irrespective of the options available, one should ask for a doctor’s advice in order to choose the most suitable menopause relief remedy.
