Constipation In Infants: How To Treat It – Part 2

By Body Health Guide

relieve menopause symptoms

Constipation in infants is quite a common condition. However, in the moment you realize that your baby is strains a lot in order to pass feces, that might be an indication it suffers fro constipation. You should never let your baby with such symptoms for too long. Discomfort is only one of the symptoms the baby will feel, but most of the times constipation is accompanied by bloating and abdominal pain. Usually, babies experience a period of constipation when breast milk is being switched for formula. This is because the ingredients in the formula have different compounds from what can be found in breast milk, and this causes constipation.

This is why it is very important that before they are put on formula, you should talk to your pediatrician and ask for a formula that is gentle on the baby’s digestive system. The change has to be made gradually, and then the baby might not experience constipation as a health condition.  Enough fluid intakes will help keep constipation at bay in children and in grown-ups alike. It is very important to keep in mind that a baby must pass stool within 24 hours from birth; if this does not happen, it is very important that the baby is consulted to see what may cause the problem.

You child should be monitored to make sure that he or she has developed a healthy habit, and that he or she can have healthy bowel movements every day. Do not forget to hydrate your child properly, as this will help with constipation. Glycerin suppositories are advisable only as occasional use, and you should not make a habit of administering your child suppositories on a daily basis. A home made enema for babies is when you insert water in the colon with the help of a sterile infant bulb syringe. Karo syrup and mineral oils are also not recommended.
