If you are experiencing chronic fatigue and weakness, if you easily lose your temper, have joint pains, then you have a problem with your thyroid gland.
The ancient science of Ayurveda has methods of preventive care and treatment that may be just the thyroid solution you were looking for. Of course this is a serious matter that should be discussed with a doctor, and the cause of the problem should be identified. It may be a cause of thyroid insufficiency, when the gland produces less hormones, as well as hyperthyroidism, when it produced more hormones that needed.
These are the easy to apply tools to prevent and treat the thyroid gland:
With circling movements massage the spots on your feet that correspond with the throat chakra, also called vishuddha chakra in the course of about three minutes for each foot. These spots are located on the inner side of the bone at the base of the thumb phalanx.
Asana, or yoga positions
Some asanas help treat the thyroid gland and are essential in preventive care. For example, the Fish asana (matsyasana) and the shoulder stand (sarvangasana). These positions normalize the secretion of thyroxin in the body, restore metabolic balance and reduce anxiety, nervousness and insomnia. Each asana should be practiced three times. They work as a thyroid gland massage, regulate its function and might be the thyroid solution of the day.
Try learning this interesting breathing exercise called Ujjayi Pranayama, for your hypothyroidism problems, and the cooling breath called Sheetali for hyperthyroidism. Practice these exercises every day for ten minutes.
If you have hypothyroidism there might be a need for reducing certain products in your daily diet such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, sweet potato, millet, soy, beans, corn. It will be useful to eat more Neem leafs, rice. In case of hyperthyroidism it is good to consume more dairy products, fresh melon, bananas and dried fruits, nuts.
In many cases of thyroid disorders ayurvedic doctors recommend Nasya therapy. This is one of the stages of Pahchakarma, and with the help of a pot you pour medicinal oil through the nostrils. The head should be tilted, the body also bent creating a natural angle and the oil will flow from one nostril into the other. This method cannot be applied with small children, pregnant women and people with certain inflammations.
And although Ayurveda definitely is the thyroid solution as it has many practices that have proven themselves through history, many of them require special assistance.
